Independent Lessons—a blog sourced and read by educators, students, and lifelong learners—inspires meaningful reflection and continuous improvement in education.
Creator, writer, and editor Chris Torino has devoted his professional life to independent education as a classroom teacher, athletics coach, dormitory parent, advisor, school leader, and trustee. A graduate of Merrimack (NH) High School, Amherst College (BA English), University of Louisville (MA English), and Harvard University (EdM School Leadership), Chris has taught, led, and learned at independent schools in Maine, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania. Across these experiences and beyond, he’s grateful for lifelong learning alongside exceptional students, mentors, colleagues, friends, and family.
